Text:  Conceptual Physical Science, Second Edition, Hewitt, Suchocki, Hewitt;  ISBN: 0-321-00191-5
Description: This is a College Prep course that will introduce the students to the fundamental principles of the Physical Sciences.  We will survey Physics, Chemistry, Geology, and Astronomy, painting each with a broad stroke.  Evaluation will be via weekly homework from the text, a final project, and three exams.  I will also be offering one or two optional (extra credit) Saturday field courses.  These field courses are targeted at the high school students, but family members are welcome to attend.  There is no fee for the field courses.  Topics of study will include:  motion, Newton's laws, momentum, energy, gravity, friction, heat, temperature, electricity, magnetism, sound, light, atomic structure, chemical bonds, molecules, pH, rocks and minerals, Earth's interior, plate tectonics, water cycle, solar system, stars, galaxies, and stellar stages.  Each student should have a science notebook.  This course qualifies as a High School Lab Science credit.
