Description: We will be studying the history of the United States with two underlying themes: individuals of conviction, character and courage make history and built America and American Exceptionalism. Periods such as the War for Independence, the writing of and debate over the Constitution, the Civil War, World War II, and the Cold War will be emphasized as well as the role great Americans such as George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan played in our history. Grades based on exams and one paper per semester. A new curriculum, developed by William Bennett, known as America The Last Best Hope will be used, with textbooks of the same title and online teaching guides and study help.
