Description: “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” If this statement holds any credibility to you this class is a must! Emphasis will be on Preventative Maintenance. The student will learn the basic systems of the home, how to implement a preventative strategy, identify problems and make basic repairs. This will be a “hands on” class and the student must be prepared for dirt, grease, cuts, and broken fingernails. We will cover: safety in home repair; power and hand tools; interior maintenance; doors and windows; ceiling, walls and floors; electrical, plumbing, painting and wall paper; cabinet and countertops; shelving and storage; insulating and weather proofing; exterior maintenance; preventing water infiltration; decks, roof, and concrete.
