Wednesday Emergency Procedures

In the event of an emergency (fire, gas leak, etc.), the fire alarm will sound.  Ultimately, it is each individual’s responsibility to make sure they get to where they are supposed to be; to assure this happens in an orderly manner, the following procedures are to be followed:

  1. Facilitators will bring their attendance sheet, and the facilitator and teacher will lead their class as a group in an orderly manner through the nearest outside exit, moving to a location 20-30 ft. away from the building but not blocking fire lanes, and then proceed to the back parking lot.  Keep your class together as one group.
  2. Any student not in class (i.e. in the restroom, etc.) will head to the meeting place and join up with the class they are supposed to be with.
  3. Hall monitors for the hour should check the restrooms on their way out.  All adults not in a class should head directly to the meeting place; do not search the building for your children before exiting.  The teachers and facilitators are to make sure all students are safely evacuated from their classroom.
  4. Once at the meeting place, the facilitator will take attendance to see if anyone from the class is missing.  If someone is missing, the facilitator will let a board member know.
  5. The board members will make sure each class is accounted for and will communicate with the facility supervisor to find out when we can re-enter the building or if we should disburse.
  6. If we are to disburse, parents should check their students out through the facilitator for each class and then leave.  Facilitators should check each student off as they leave with their parent.  Facilitators should have a designated friend pick up their children and bring the children to them.

In the event of an earthquake, everyone should DROP, COVER, & HOLD ON.  This means you should immediately drop under a sturdy desk or table, hold on, and protect your eyes by pressing your face against your arm.  If there's no table or desk nearby, sit on the floor against an interior wall away from windows, bookcases, or tall furniture that could fall on you.  It is important you stay away from any windows and remain in the room you are in until given further instructions.

We may have unannounced emergency drills throughout the year.

Rooms L114, L115, & L116 should leave their classroom to the right (L115 to the left) proceed to the end of the hallway, turn right and exit the glass doors.

Rooms L118 & L119 should exit their classrooms to the left toward the lighted EXIT sign (L103 goes past the restrooms) and exit through the outside door.

Rooms L120, L123, & L124 should leave the classroom to the right, go through the double doors, turn right, proceed toward the EXIT sign straight ahead to the outside exit on the west side of the building.

Rooms L126, L128, & L129 should use the stair well located through the doors directly across from room L129, which exits to the west side of the building.

Rooms 139, 141, & the New Student Center should exit toward the back parking lot.

Rooms 210, 212, & 213 should use the main stairwell down to the foyer and exit out the glass doors to the back parking lot.
